The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) is conducting research on how people earn a living through farming.

You are invited to contribute to this study. Your participation will help us to understand and find solutions to the challenges of marginalised farming communities.

WHO ARE THE MAIN SURVEY PARTICIPANTS?
Fieldworkers will collect information from:
• Small farmers
• Farmworkers
• Farm dwellers

IN WHICH LOCALITIES WILL THE SURVEY BE DONE?
Over the next few weeks, HSRC fieldworkers will collect data in the following districts:

  • Phase 1: 23 October – 10 November 2023
    Bojanala, North West
    Amajuba, KwaZulu-Natal
    Namakwa, Northern Cape
    Ehlanzeni, Mpumalanga
    Amathole, Eastern Cape
    Cape Winelands, Western Cape
  • Phase 2: 13 November – 30 November 2023
    Sarah Baartman, Eastern Cape
    Fezile Dabi, Free State
    Uthukela, KwaZulu-Natal
    Overberg, Western Cape
    Sedibeng, Gauteng
    Vhembe, Limpopo

HOW WILL YOU BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY HSRC FIELDWORKERS?
Every HSRC fieldworker must present their unique identification cards upon request. This ID card has the fieldworker’s name and picture, and information about this study
