In light of the National Assembly’s resolution on 27 February 2018, the Joint Constitutional Review Committee has been mandated to gather the views of South African on the review Section 25 of the Constitution and other clauses necessary to make it possible for the state to expropriate land in the public interest without compensation.

Now, the Committee has called for written public submissions and an indication to make oral public submissions to be sent to:

Pat Jayiya pjayiya@parliament.gov.za (tell (021) 403-3661)

Closing date for the submissions and the indication requesting to make an oral submission is on 31 May 2018.

The precedent is that only those who make submissions no later than 31 May, will be invited to present at the relevant hearings when they happen. As it happened with previous public consultation processes, they will be allocated a slot before the Committee takes submissions from the floor at each hearing.
